With over a decade of experience in the Victorian legal system, Carl has built a reputation for his calm, client-focused manner and his ability to deliver clear, practical outcomes—particularly in moments of high stress and complexity.

Carl holds a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University, and completed his Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Leo Cussen Centre for Law, where he also undertook their Advocacy Program. These foundations cemented his early passion for courtroom advocacy and sharpened the legal skills that now define his practice.

Throughout his career, Carl has acted for clients across a wide range of legal areas, including criminal law, traffic matters, family law, civil disputes, and intervention order proceedings. His breadth of experience gives him a deep appreciation for the unique pressures that clients face in different legal contexts.

Known for his practical and creative approach to problem-solving, Carl is passionate about finding real-world solutions to his clients' legal issues. Before establishing Paterson Finch Legal, Carl gained extensive courtroom experience working at respected general practice firms. His decision to start his own practice came from a desire to deliver more personalised, attentive, and accessible legal services.
